Career Summary

Red Horner played 101 games with the Toronto Marlboros over four (4) seasons between the 1926-27 and 1927-28 (Junior team) and the 1927-28 and 1928-29 (Senior team) hockey seasons, scoring sixteen (16) goals and eleven (11) assists with the team.  Marlboros captain “Shrimp” MacPherson described Horner as someone who, “has his elbow in your kisser or his fanny in your face every time he is on the ice”.

Horner went on to play twelve (12) seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1928 to 1940, serving as Captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1938 – 1940.   His entrance into the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs occurred on December 28, 1928 and was his third game in 24 hours, after playing for the Toronto Marlboros on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

In 1965, Horner was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
