Career Summary
Mike Palmateer played two seasons with the Toronto Marlboros, including the Marlboros 1973 Memorial Cup win.
Born and raised in Toronto, Palmateer played the majority of his career in his hometown starting out early on as a pee-wee with the Toronto Marlboros and continuing with the organization right through to the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA). It was with the Marlboros that Palmateer first forced skeptics to take notice as he was named to the OHA All-Star First Team in 1972-73 and in the same year was the winner of the Dave Pinkney Trophy for top team goaltending.
After his stint with the Marlboros, Palmateer went on to play for 4 more seasons of hockey with the IHL and CHL after being brought into the Leafs organization before breaking into the Toronto Maple Leafs line-up, where he played from 1976-1980 and returned to the club from 1982-1984 after two seasons with the Washington Capitals.
On June 27, 2002 Mike Palmateer joined the Toronto Maple Leafs organization once again as scout for the Ontario region and goaltending consultant for the team’s prospects.
