Career Summary
Brad Park played 112 games with the Toronto Marlboros between the 1965-66 and 1967-68 hockey seasons, scoring fourteen (14) goals and sixty-two (62) assists with the team.
At the end of his three (3) seasons with the Marlboros, Park went on to play eighteen (18) seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1968 to 1985 after being drafted second overall by the New York Rangers during the 1966 entry draft. Playing for the Rangers, the Bruins, and the Red Wings, Park is considered one of the best defensemen of his generation and was a master at taking forwards out of the play and away from the middle of the rink.
In 1972, Park played defense for Team Canada in the Summit Series, earning five (5) points in eight (8) games, and was named best defensemen in the series.
Brad Park’s list of honours is very impressive. In 1983-84 Brad Park was awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy for exemplifying perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey and was ranked number forty nine (49) on the Hockey News’ 100 Greatest Hockey Players of All Time list in 1998. Although Park never won the Norris Trophy, he was runner-up six (6) times, which is an NHL record. Park retired as the leading defensive scorer for the Rangers and second behind Bobby Orr in defensive scoring for both the Bruins and the NHL.
In 1988, Park was further honoured by being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. |
